When you buy music from iTunes, it comes packaged with album art. But your own collection may have some missing album art when you import them or you may want to update them all with new versions.

So let's take a quick look at how you can manually add album art to iTunes.

iTunes can automatically find the album artwork for you. Right click on the album and select Get Album Artwork . But here's how to add your own and customize any playlist.

  1. Right-click on the album and select Album Info .

  2. Another screen opens with all the associated metadata for the album or song. Go to the Illustrations tab on the side of the screen for details.

  3. Click Add Artwork . This will open the Finder window on Mac or the File dialog on Windows. Select an image file or drag the image file to the art area. You can select a file downloaded from the many cover art sites on the web or make your own graphic. Discussions on the web recommend a size of 600 × 600 px for album art.
  4. Click OK and you're done.

The album art is now uploaded to iTunes. Delete the file from your computer.
