Celebrate a decade of the doctor with the Doctor Who BitTorrent Bundle

The BBC has just made the groundbreaking decision to release Doctor Who on BitTorrent as a legal download. This is fantastic news for fans around the world and we hope it will pave the way for more legal content from the BBC via BitTorrent in the future.

Indeed, this is surely a win for everyone involved.

While BitTorrent is commonly known for the illegal content available for download, it tries to legitimize itself by offering legal packages, both paid and unpaid. The addition of legal BBC content to BitTorrent's paid packages is an incredible boon for them as more people will become aware of legal content available through torrents.

In an interview with The Guardian, Nick Coulter, the BBC's head of digital, said this was the core reason for the decision.

All fans everywhere win

The most important thing to note here is that this is a major TV producer testing a new way of delivering content for a fee. It is a method that transcends international borders, avoids the costs of producing and delivering physical goods, and can be brought to market very quickly. If the experiment goes well, not only will the BBC consider delivering more content via BitTorrent, but other major television and television producers will consider it as well.
