The Mask's son, Grease 2...these cult movie sequels are so bad you've never heard of them

There are films that did not necessarily deserve a sequel or saga. And yet, to surf on the original work, directors mistakenly thought that only the name of the film could guarantee it a success. Back to these 6 suites that were colossal turnips.

The XXX movie sequels

In 2002, the first film XXX arrived on the big screen. on the adventures of Xander Cage (Vin Diesel). If the scenario is basic, a stunt fan of extreme sports enlisted by the NSA to carry out a mission abroad, success is present and the one who will become the star of the saga Fast And Furious , makes a name for himself. But did you know that the film had two sequels? The Next Level released in 2005 which collected only 75 million dollars in revenue while the film will have cost more than 115 million dollars? The third opus released in 2017 will manage economically but will not make an impression. Except perhaps that of Neymar, who plays in it.

    Dr. Doolittle Sequels

In 1998 came the phenomenon Dr Doolittle . Eddie Murphy stars as a doctor who learns he is able to communicate with animals. The success is immediate and today has become cult. Three years later, the sequel comes out, which is a pure and hard failure. However, this will not prevent American cinema from releasing three other films in which Eddie Murphy is not present. Nobody remembers this last trilogy, and that's good.

    The Mask's son

Do you remember the movie The Mask ? Of course yes! Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz form a duo that works like thunder. Humor galore and musical scenes of anthology are the recipes of this film which marks a generation. In 2005, someone had the good (not) idea to make its sequel:Le fils du Mask . Of an ugliness its name filled with gags which do not work and especially without Jim Carrey… The project was to fail and to severely fail. It's consistently ranked as one of the worst movies of all time, and its theatrical openings failed to even repay the budget ($84 million!).

    Grease 2

How it Grease 2 ? It's wrong, isn't it? Well no. In 1982, the sequel to the very cult and magnificent Grease was released. . Everyone remembers Randal Kleisser's film, but no one remembers its sequel, directed by Patricia Birch. But how can we forget a film with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John? Simply because they are not in the work.

Conversely, it is Michelle Pfeiffer, for her first "big" role in the cinema, and Maxwell Caulfield, whose celebrity has not exceeded American borders, who are on the bill. Even if the dance scenes are "pleasant", the film will not mark any spirit.

      Escape 2 and 3

Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, 50 Cent… Good Escape released in 2013 is a success thanks to its strong cast but also by its striking action scenes. Rare are the remarkable films that take place in a hostile prison environment and the work of Mikaël Hafstrom is one of them. The film was enough on its own, Steven C. Miller did not need to make an even more testosterone sequel with Dave Bautista, the former wrestler turned MCU star. With a budget of 20 million dollars, the film was released directly on DVD with us. And if you want to show off in the evening, you can teach your friends that there is an Evasion 3 released in 2019. These are the same ingredients, with the same cast, but less well and in déja-vu. Not sure if they saw the second one, but you can try anyway.

      Ghost Rider:Spirit of Vengeance

In 2007, the phenomenon Ghost Rider was released. with Nicholas Cage. And by phenomenon, we mean that it is not a good film but a work known to the general public. This adaptation of Comic is not the only failure (poke Cat Woman and Elektra ), but it has the advantage of being entertaining. The sequel to the adventures of the flaming skull biker was released in 2012 and is even more criticized than the original film:not funny, the action scenes are flat, the script is not great... Forgettable and forgotten.

In another style, did you know that there was, not one, not two, not even three, but eight films in the Beethoven saga? ? But who remembers Beethoven new star or Beethoven saves Christmas?
