Twitch Soundtrack lets you stream music to your stream

It's always been a bit confusing to know what music you can stream on your Twitch stream without getting hit with a copyright strike.

Now, Twitch makes this process much easier with the introduction of its Soundtrack by Twitch feature.

What is Twitch Soundtrack?

As announced on the Twitch Blog, Soundtrack by Twitch is a new beta feature that gives streamers a curated collection of copyright-cleared music.

The system integrates with streaming software and appears as a separate audio source. Previously, if you streamed copyrighted music to your stream, the entire archived recording might be disabled. Keeping the music on a separate source alleviates this problem.

It also means you can easily mute the music from the source if you want to stream or store the stream outside of Twitch.

The music available on Soundtrack by Twitch has been curated by the streaming platform, along with "select streamers and industry partners." The songs are from music artists and labels who have granted everyone the worldwide right to hear their songs for free.

Currently, Soundtrack by Twitch is available for OBS Studio 26.0 or later. Twitch Studio and Streamlabs OBS compatibility coming soon.

The feature is available to a select group now, but will roll out to more streamers in the coming weeks. You can register your interest by registering for the waiting list.

What music is available on the soundtrack of Twitch?

Twitch has teamed up with a wide range of labels and distribution partners to ensure the music choices span genres.

These include Empire, Future Classic, SoundCloud, and United Masters, with artists such as Above &Beyond, mxmtoon, Porter Robinson, RAC, SwuM, and more.

Playing music on Twitch is now much easier

The ability to play music on a Twitch stream has always been murky territory. In June 2020, Twitch had to remove a large number of archived music videos due to DMCA strikes. If streamers receive three warnings, they are banned, although they can challenge the decision.

Now streamers can use Twitch Soundtrack to clear up confusion and fear of getting banned.

If you are a streamer, you should check out the feature. This is shaping up to be a great way to build an audience for your channel.
