Valorant Mobile crossplay:why the feature won't ship with the game

The fact that Riot Games is creating a mobile port for its most popular shooter, Valorant, is no lie. Fans of the shooter have been eagerly awaiting its arrival on the mobile platform, ever since the project was revealed in June 2021.

This isn't the first time Riot Games has taken a step towards porting its IP addresses to mobile and has done so successfully in the past with League of Legends.

However, the main question that Valorant fans are asking is whether the game will have cross-play features to match with and against PC players. To help overcome this doubt, this article will provide additional information on why this feature will not come with the mobile version.

Why Valorant Mobile won't have a cross-play feature

The answer is quite obvious as this is an extremely competitive shooter that requires immense skill to play properly. With all of the game mechanics presented to gamers, it's clear that mobile gamers will be at a significant disadvantage when pitted against PC gamers.

This injustice can occur for several reasons and are as follows:

  1. Aiming Experience:With easier camera movement, PC gamers will have an advantage over mobile gamers in terms of aiming.
  2. Using Queues:PC players can use their queues more easily than on the mobile platform, as aiming can take some time.
  3. Performance disparity:At the current generation of computers, mobile devices are still behind a full PC in terms of performance. Modern PCs today are capable of handling high frame rates like 300+ while mobile technology is still stuck at 144Hz.
  4. Screen size:PC gamers also have a huge advantage when it comes to screen size. While mobile gamers average a 6-inch screen, PC users will use double or triple screens that size.

A good example of such a situation is Fortnite which tried to implement cross-play functionality on PC and mobile but failed miserably. PC gamers have always been dominant in the game, with a large majority of mobile gamers struggling to keep up.
