Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War Devs Face Backlash

Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War Devs Face Backlash

Improving a game after release is just as important as releasing it in good condition. The devs' reaction to the reviews really shows their perspective on their work. Now call of duty black ops cold war released earlier this month. Since then, people have complained about quite a few things about the game. Professionals and content creators have taken issue with how the Skill-Based Matchmaking System (SBMM) in the game works. People are asking for the game to have a separate rated playlist next to a casual.

We need to be mindful of the difficulty of developing and releasing a game during the ongoing pandemic. There are many restrictions that pose new problems for developers. Making a fully-fledged AAA game with a good portion of employees working from home isn't exactly an easy task, nor is it an ideal way to make a game. Nonetheless, Activision, Treyarch, Raven Studios, Sledgehammer games and the other studios involved did a great job with Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War. The game's campaign and zombie modes show promise, though the multiplayer could use some balancing. That didn't stop the game from drawing criticism, however.

Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War Developer Responds To Requests For Ranked Playlists

Seth Abner , better known as foam , who signed with Optic and is one of Call of Duty's top pros, tweeted at one of the devs asking for a dedicated ranked playlist.

This tweet, however, did not give the response that everyone was expecting. Developer David “Vahn” Vonderhaar replied with this tweet

This response may seem to be rather brash . Scump later said he had no ill intentions about the game and was in fact grateful. What the developer asked him and the community to trust them and be good with them.

As consumers, we need to remember that we paid for the game and deserve a fun and engaging experience and out of it. The developers don't do us much charity by fixing issues with the game that need to be fixed. Youtuber Birdman called out Scump for not standing up for the player base when he could have, with the latter's response being whether Birdman would pay his fines. Not being able to legitimately critique a game studio's work will leave us with no way of telling them what's wrong. These interactions shed some light on where Black Ops Cold War stands today. Developers should know that players don't owe the studio anything because they paid for the game , and should act accordingly when faced with criticism.

There is no doubt that gamers are grateful to have gotten Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War as it is. The developers' work on the game is commendable but that doesn't negate its issues. Just because a game was developed under harsh new conditions doesn't mean it's immune to criticism. Only time will tell what awaits Black Ops Cold War.
